the Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Animal Rescue
This is a BIG thank you for everybody's help in supporting the HCJ project to gather donations for the people and animals suffering after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.
As of May 25th, the appeal is now closed.
Thanks to many generous people we are pleased to report that total funds raised amount to 621,228 Yen (Domestic 580,045 Yen, International 41,183 Yen).
These funds will be sent to the Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies.

* Rebbeca Rhoades, who was a main speaker in our workshop, provided us with copies of the 'Pet Emergency Sheltering'. This manual was translated into Japanese under the HCJ2010 projects and made available to the Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies through veterinarian Dr. Chizuko Yamaguchi of the Japan Animal Welfare Society (JAWS).
This request for donations is being made in order to aid the rescue efforts towards animals as well as the support animals being evacuated with their owners after the devastating damage of the Eastern Japan Great Earthquake. The Headquarters for the Relief of Animals in Emergencies (founded after the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in Kobe, with government involvement) is calling for donations.
As of 31st March 2011, total donations amount to Yen 136,360,537 (about USD 1,623,340 at an exchange rate of 1USD = 84JPN). These generous donations are received with great appreciation.
